Aisha – a new single from the Australian rapper Aife – was nominated for an MTV Video Academy award for Best New Artist, for which she received a nomination for best new single.
Aife, who’s real name is Aife Ali Bano, performed the track in her own unique style with a live band.
She was awarded the award for her performance in the Australian Grand Prix Grand Prix, which took place on Sunday, and for her video for the track.
“I’m just trying to do my thing and make my music as accessible as possible to as many people as possible,” she said.
In the video, Aife performs a rap dance on the streets of Melbourne’s CBD, before taking a bus to the racecourse.
The video, which was nominated, is one of the most watched by Australians and the first video nominated for MTV VMA, in which she won the award.
As well as winning the MTV Video award, Aisha also won an award from the International Grammy Awards.
