TORONTO — It was an amazing day for Toronto muslams.
They finished third in their group on the singles tour of the United States.
The top of the standings were the Toronto muslims, who took the first two spots in the tour and were leading the tour by 10 points.
The second-place finisher, the Vancouver Whitecaps, lost on Saturday night.
The Canadian side of the tour is still in the process of finding a new host for the tour.
And if that doesn’t happen, the Canadian teams may have to settle for the first round of the US tour, which starts March 17 in Columbus.
The tour will also kick off in Chicago and Los Angeles.
That’s a long way from home, so the Whitecaps will likely need to rely on their own talent to get their game on.
“I think we can get there,” said Whitecaps head coach John Herdman.
“We’re all excited about the challenge ahead, and we’ve all seen it’s a very challenging tour to play.
We have a lot of great players that we’ve just got to get used to playing against.”
The Canadian teams have not played each other in a year, and they have a combined record of 20-19-8 against each other.
Their first match was a 5-4 loss to the Portland Timbers in mid-March, but the match ended in a 2-1 win.
The two teams split their last two games.
It was a rematch of the 2016 US Open Cup final between Vancouver and Portland.
TFC’s best chance of winning the tour comes against the New York Red Bulls on March 27 in Columbus, Ohio.
The team is 6-0-0 against New York since the start of the MLS season.
They also won the last two matches against the Red Bulls in 2016.
“They’re a tough team to beat,” said Herdmann.
“There’s not a lot that can be done about it.
We just have to play our game.
There’s nothing that can help us.”
The team is also in the midst of an international break and could face the New Zealanders on March 17.
That game is being played in front of a packed crowd at Ohio Stadium.
The Red Bulls are 5-0 in their last six matches against Canada, and will be looking to win their first match in Columbus this season.
Toronto, meanwhile, has not played a Canadian team since 2014.
That may be because of the long travel schedule.
“It’s a bit of a grind to get there every time,” said midfielder Jordan Hamilton.
“So, you’ve got to have a good attitude about it and you’ve just gotta play.
It’s not going to be easy.”
